Mt. Diablo summit loop via Mitchell Rock, Eagle Peak, Bald Peak, and Mitchell Canyon Road [May 6, 2017]
Advertisement: This is the (longer) summit trail on Mt. Diablo from the Mitchell Canyon Visitor's Center the northern side. We took the route passing Mitchell Rock, Eagle Peak, and Bald Peak on the way up, and mostly followed Mitchell Canyon Road going down. The hike takes you through diverse terrain and views are consistently good along the hike up, as much of it is along a ridge.

Difficulty:13 miles, 3000 feet of elevation gain
Preparation:None. Watch for rattlesnakes, poison oak and ticks. Go when the weather is good (e.g. in the spring) as much of the hike is exposed.
Summary: One of the harder hikes in the bay area; suburbia pervades your views, but you can see the mountain features on the north face of the mountain as you climb up. 3/5
