Little Round Top [March 25, 2016]

Advertisement: A snowshoeing day trip near Carson Pass. You ascend a saddle and traverse a ridge, crossing three peaks, until you summit Little Round Top. There are views of the Dardanelles Lake region to the northeast and Round Top and Kirkwood to the south.

Difficulty: Depends on snow conditions – get an alpine (early) start for better (harder) snow. We started at 10am. The round trip distance is roughly 10 miles with 1500 feet of total elevation change.

Preparation:Bring snowshoes or skis.

Summary: Though they were good, the views didn’t change too much as we traversed the ridge, and the summit of Little Round Top is somewhat anticlimatic as it rises only a few hundred feet above the peaks along the traverse. 3/5
