Advertisement: More of a drive than a hike. The drive to the playa is part of the attraction, as peaks rise above as you on both sides drive through the desert. The rocks on the Racetrack have the appearance that they move due to tracks that they leave behind them. Besides this, the playa is a cool place to hang out. There is a pile of rocks that one can scramble on the playa, and also small hills to climb surrounding it.

Difficulty: Less than a mile, no elevation change.
Preparation:You have to rent a vehicle that can make it to the playa. We rented a Jeep from Farabee Jeeps, which are a ton of fun to drive, but expensive to rent. We saw some people do it in their SUVs, and one person attempt it a sedan (which I think is not a good idea).
Summary: A fun place to visit, and you can explore around to your content. 4/5
