Difficulty: 10 miles round trip, 4500 feet elevation gain. The top third of the hike is on ash, making travel very difficult and arduous. There is also some easy class 2 scrambling over rocks.
Preparation:None. Beware of cornices on the rim (do not approach the edge).
Summary: A really rewarding hike to an interesting geological feature shaped by a recent event. 5/5
