Marble Mountains [September 5-7, 2015]

Advertisement:  An idyllic alpline meadow surrounded by peaks of white stone. Camp in the meadows and take day hikes out to nearby peaks, e.g. the Marble Rim. The area is also known for caves, but experience is necessary.

Difficulty: 6.5 miles and 2000 feet of elevation gain to camp one way; 8 miles and 1000 feet round trip day trip along the Marble Rim

Preparation: None, other than standard backpacking gear. Water sources are plentiful.

Summary: The valley is a great place to camp and relax, with some (cold) alpine lakes one can swim in. The day hike to the Marble Rim involves some scrambling but one has views along the way and the rock is very white. 4/5
