About

This blog contains brief trip reports, photographs, and basic information to facilitate walks, hikes, climbs, rides.   It is meant to supplement and/or summarize existing literature. It prioritizes brevity over completeness; the reader is expected to work out details at the scene and exercise judgement relative to their ability.

The title of this blog, 爬崎落山, is Taiwanese for "climbing slopes and descending mountains" and is romanized peh kiā lo̍h suann (roughly pronounced bay-giah-low-swah, with a hard "g"). It is from a song called "Walk" by Hsieh Ming-yu, which I have translated here. The subtitle reflects a philosophy I have grown into over the years: to embrace amd accept uncertainty about successful completion. In a way this blog is a record of my own mistakes.
